So, any idea what the future goverment might bring for the Danish Armed Forces?

Regarding the Caesar tests: 50 clicks with Excalibur, which we're buying a bunch of.
We're also buying GPS guided rounds for our new Piranha 5/Cardom 10 systems.

I don't suspect much changes. We're in a build up fase which will continue the next 10 years at least. I've finally gotten an overview of the new structur of the Army and some news of new incoming equipment. Fx.. We're looking for a new general service weapon to replace our current M10s(Colt Canada C8IUR/16.5" barrel).. and much more. Will return soon..

Please do me a favor and post this overview of the new structure as soon as your able to.

Today Denmark celebrate the Danish flag "Dannebrog" 800th birthday.
This F16 will keep these colors until it's replaced with F35.

The army's structure.

The Danish division has transformed into Multinational Division North, which is a Danish led Nato division including an Estonian and Latvian brigade.

We got two brigades, 1st and 2nd.
1. brigade consist of 3 mechanized infantrybattalions, 1 HQ battalion, 1 Military Intelligens battalion, 1 Artillery battalion, 1 Armoured Engineer battalion and 1 Logistic battalion.
2. brigade consist of 1 Light Infantry battalion, 1 Recce battalion and 1 Tank battalion. And then it got 3 training battalions.

The 3 combat battalions in 2. brigade can act on their own, but will normally deliver contributions to 1. brigades units. The Mechanized infantry battalion will normally get a tank company added when deployed. The MI battalion will normally get a Recce squadron. The Air force will deliver an AA battery if needed and larger drones(Scan Eagle most likely)...

The mechanized infantry battalions consist of 1 HQ company, 1 CV9035 company and 2 Piranha 5 companies. New is that HQ coy gets its own light armoured recce platoon now. The Artillery regiment will deliver a heavy mortar platoon to each battalion. The infantry companies got their own light mortar section.

New equipment incoming: Some ATGM's to the infantry and recce units(Javelin most likely). An all new service weapon to replace our current M10's(Colt M4). Replacements for our HK417 and Sako TRG sniper rifles(AI AX50 is being introduced to the sections right now). The new battle management system is being implemented in all units and vehicles. And lots of other stuff I might add later...

Our navy has started to send our large combat vessels, Iver Huitfeld and Absalon class, on patrols in the North Atlantic(Greenland and Faroe Islands). Normally it's only our ice hardend OPVs, Thetis and Knud Rasmussen class, that patrol up there.
Just as the air force started sending F16's up there some years ago, which normally is our Challengers airspace.
Here a video of F16 in Greenland

Some videos of the navy vessels tomorrow

Better late than never! ;)

First.. We have never used our large vessels up in the North Atlantic. But we are starting to now, just as F16s are now training up there. The frigate Willemoes was the first as shown, spending some time around Faroe Islands before sailing up Greenlands west coast, up to Nuuk.
It has now been relieved by Absalon(combat support/command/frigate.. hybrid thing), which will stay up there for a couple of months.

This is a bit older. Just before the frigate Niels Juel joined the French carriergroup.
Just want to show the two 76mm in superposition shooting. It was actually the meaning, that the frigates would have the same guns as the Absalon class. That's a 127mm and two 35mm. But developments in 76mm ammunition, both in the AA and surface/land attack role, has changed that.

The Absalon class are support ships of the Royal Danish Navy, commissioned in 2005. The two ships in the class may be described as a hybrid between a frigate and military transport ship with multiple role capabilities, with the capacity to be transformed from a combat ship with the firepower of a traditional frigate to a hospital ship within a day
