Exercise MAPLE ARCH 17 is an army multinational exercise supported by Canada in partnership with Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine. MAPLE ARCH is an annual training event under the leadership of the LITPOLUKR Brigade to enhance its capabilities in support of international peace and security. This year the exercise was held in Nowa Dęba, Poland from 5-16 November, 2017.
As part of exercise "LIONINTRÉPIDE 2017", members of the 1st Royal 22e Régiment with the 5th Combat Engineer Regiment and Leopard 2A4 tanks of the Royal Canadian Dragoons from Gagetown, New Brunswick, conduct section attack demonstrations in the training areas of CFB Valcartier, Quebec, November 2017.

The Canadian Army (CA) deployed a team of four observers from the Canadian Army Advanced Warfare Centre to China from 15-20 January 2018 to observe Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) winter warfare training. The Chinese PLA accepted a reciprocal invitation from the CA to observe winter survival training in Petawawa from 5-8 February 2018. As highlighted in Strong, Secure, Engaged: Canada’s Defence Policy, the Canadian Armed Forces will continue to build their relationship with the Chinese PLA.
