Eh, I’ve never been so far north of England. The whole city seems to hold a grudge against the rest of the country. Seems like they blame it on respectively Thatcher, the demise of factories and steel, or the Caribbean community over there and lately the Queen and the Monarchy because they’re “not elected” and are wealthy.

Though for banter, this is what you get when googling “is Liverpool worth visiting?”:
It's a shite hole - spent a lot of time there 40 years ago, and I cannot imagine how bad it is now
We got really fed up with people trying to mug us...............

If you want to go somewhere with zero culture and plenty of pond life, then that's Liverpool

You notice I called it the Liverpool Gecko - because they all have sticky fingers................

Okay but the Beatles though. There’s that. ;)
Don't even go there - it's all they every bang on about - oh and a few dead football supporters they crushed

My best friend was at University at Liverpool (god only knows why) - so I used to visit some weekends

He used to run the American Football team (when it was not that well known in the UK) - so every Sunday morning we used to have to go to Sefton park for training. Next to the café place there was a bit of hard standing, and they used to have bands on. Well after you have heard the ten thousandth Beetle's look alike and tone-deaf a likes - with their scummy parents cheering them on then you will know why I hate the Beetles. It was agony - like someone dragging their nails down a blackboard - but with a Liverpool accent

Sometime used to punt the ball that way just to shut them up for a bit

If you like architecture I believe Salisbury is renowned for it's architecture, with visitors from.... far and wide ;-)
Sefton Park is actually quite nice - the Palm House was a bit dilapidated when I was last there in the early 80's

But it looks like they have had an EU grant or three ;)

Point taken. More seriously I think the only places I’d go in the foreseeable future would be either Southern England, Cornwall, Somerset or Brighton right on the other side of the channel because it’s mainly smaller cities and towns and big cities aren’t for me. London at least some parts of it aren’t too bad and there’s plenty of things to do and see but I just see it as a major city I remember visiting in the mid-90s and not too different from NYC or Paris: people that don’t bother with dumb tourists and can be seen as rude sometimes wrongly so.

A few friends of mine went to Dublin and quite enjoyed it. Again it’s a big city to Irish standards, spending a few days there would be certainly worthy before I would instead hit the road to the countryside.

Yep, Dublin has a few attractions like the Guinness storehouse and a few semi decent museums/galleries, but I recommend visiting the stadiums - Landsdowne for the Rugby, and Croke park for the Gaelic. If visiting you should go to a Gaelic match it's one of the few authentic things in the city, except a few old mans boozers. Can be good gigs in Dublin, but festival season can be good throughout the country.

Once outside the Wicklow hills have some nice villages and some quiet walks like sally Gap.
Cliffs of Moher (and Clare county in genera. Also possible to do boat trips to Aran islands)
Kerry (ring of Kerry and ladies view especially, also possible to do Skellig Michael trips (star wars island))
Sligo (Yeats country is good anytime of year, but is lovely in a brutal way in the p1ssing rain of winter/spring)

Anchor bankers to get more money - it was them that caused the 2008-2009 crash - why are we going to reward them now

Conservatives will just make themselves unelectable again

All they have to do is

Increase the tax threshold at the bottom end to £18K

Drop VAT to 5% on goods and services

But put VAT up to 50 to 100% on things like BMW's, Audi's and Bently's - fine wine etc. - So luxury tax

Cut Foreign Aid to zero

It's easy - but Liz ain't got the balls for it

Liverpool Police still have made no progress, and it looks like the Glock had been used at least twice before

'Reward' is now £200K

No doubt the chief suspect will be somewhere hot and warm like Portugal - nice for a trip this time of year

We go to Liverpool once a year. The waterfront is nice, and overall a large fortune has been spent on the city.

But you can’t beat scousers.

Dealt with a company there, they gave the staff, pay, shift pay, pay for turning up, productivity pay, etc etc.

The scousers still called in sick, late etc. nicked everything, and moaned if they did turn up.

They have an expectation of doing nothing, getting paid, and sticking it to the man.

Heseltine( Home Secretary for thatcher) suggested abandoning the place, ‘managed decline’ was the name, they didn’t, but I think it was close.

I wouldn’t travel from France to see it. Brighton is nice, Dover castle worth a visit, for kids, Lego land is good.

We did Paris just after 9/11, will probably come back at some point, but I wouldn’t want to tour every capital in Europe…

How hard can it be, the target was a well known gang member, someone knows.

UK mini budget for the rich and wealthy -= as the pound free falls against the dollar

I could just smack Liz Truss with the smug look on her face

A giveaway budget for the rich and already very wealthy - bankers bonus cap removed WTF and high rate of tax reduced by 5%
(the plebs get 1% next April)

Won't be getting my vote next election time

The only thing in there for me is reform of the fascist planning laws - which I will need to see in detail to believe

I was hoping they would make it legal to hunt planning officials - a bit like fox hunting - but where you can drag them down the road tied to the back of your car/van - vile creatures

I honestly don't want to get into this because it'll just put me in a bad mood but I've just read that someone earning over a million pounds a year will now pay £42,500 less in tax per year. As of 2020, the median salary of the UK is £31,400.

I used to genuinely believe that hard work and honesty paid off, until I saw the top ten list of billionaires in the world on Forbes.

It seems the fall of the Roman Empire

Nobody but yet a valid question.

You see, just this weekend I went to a village for a coffee on terrace and briefly chatted with the owner of the restaurant.

When I say “village”, imagine a picturesque and typical one of the north of France and she was becoming worried that her staff and employees weren’t there yet by 10:15.

You’ll tell me: students and restaurants employees are also cheap labor and don’t want to be working crazy hours for a salary that barely pay rent, booze and food.

She’s found a Tunisian “migrant”, a legal one several weeks ago as a chef and he is right on time, doesn’t call in sick for a cold, and isn’t a clock watcher.

I’m not trying to make it some ethnicity or race issue, but the old saying in America : “doing the jobs Americans won’t” is pretty real in Europe/The UK too.

The problem is you did not get 7m people who were of any use - you got 7m of other countries' dross, dead heads, drug dealers and criminals

Most of the UK looks like a third world shite hole and it will only get worse

The Queen's funeral was the last 'white' event - it's all further down hill from here on in

Same for continental europe,
Massive, uncontrolled emigration
For example many Brazilian women arrive here at the very end of their pregnancy, and if the baby is born here he/She is immediately entitled to Portuguese Citizenship (and becomes an EU Citizen).... it's a very lucrative " business"...and with government sponsorship!!!

Does make me wonder what my father would have thought

He wasted 7 years killing Jerman's just so we could be invaded by the third world

If they had tried to cross the channel in the 1940's or 1950's the Royal Navy would have machine-gunned them
(I also think the RNLI need to be forcibly disbanded)

Country went to the dogs years ago - won't be long before we have Sharia Law and a Muslim head of state
