Sometimes aircraft carriers take on a very unexpected form !
These are Soviet Navy Yak-38s being tested on board civilian ships using a platform like on the IRINS Makran or Atlantic Conveyor.

Invincible class aircraft carrier ILLUSTRIOUS fitting out at Swan Hunter shipyard on May 18, 1982. The yard workers pulled out all the stops to send the ship off to the Falklands ASAP. She left the yard 3 months ahead of schedule but arrived in the South Atlantic after the Argentine surrender.
