FIRST HERMES 450 UAV FOR THE PHILIPPINE AIR FORCE SCHEDULED TO ARRIVE SOON

This is the actual Hermes 450 UAV that is bound for the Philippine Air Force, as shown during a demonstration and inspection in Israel recently. It would be applied with PAF colors and markings prior to delivery hopefully within the year.

Two Philippine security officials told The Associated Press on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, that tugboats were used to pull the BRP Gregorio del Pilar from the shallow fringes of Half Moon Shoal before midnight. The frigate ran aground during a routine patrol Wednesday night, damaging some of its propellers. It's more than 100 crewmen were unhurt.

French boatbuilder OCEA has launched the 4th and last FPB-72 Mk. II patrol boat for the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and is named BRP Kalanggaman (2404) last 13 August 2018.

One 80 meter OPV is next to be built by France. Hoping for 90 meter OPVs from Japan too.

Miguel Malvar Class Corvette ( ex-USN Admirable-class mine sweepers), Rizal-Class (ex-USN Auk-class), and a WW2 LST. They will be retired soon one by one once the Korean Pohang-class corvette are online before the end of the year and the Corvette Acquisition Project moves on while waiting for funds.

Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) displayed a scale model of the Navy's new class of frigates during the recent Manila ADAS 2018.

I wish they could have make it 8 launcher tubes for the C-STAR ASM instead of 4. Budget constraints perhaps. Atleast it's equipped with CIWS.

BETTER than what we currently have, and more frigates to follow in the future!

I still believe the Philippines would have been better served with the Thales/SAAB combat system as per the original contract and which is compatible with Link 16 rather than the pretty untried Hyundai combat system which is only on other Korean Navy units.

But definitely a major upgrade in capability for PI even so (Y)

South Korean Marines trains Filipino Marines on how to operate the KAAV-7. It is reported that Hanwa will deliver eight KAAV-7s before the year ends after so many months of delay.

There she is, the first AgustaWestland AW159 Mk.220 Wildcat ASW helicopter of the Philippine Navy, with British and Philippine roundels and temporarily using the UK military registration number ZZ549 until delivery, as seen in Yeovil, UK last 01 November 2018, the day of it's reported first flight test.

Originally the delivery should have been last 29 September 2018, but AgustaWestland requested for 6 months time extension, and this would now be delivered in March 2019 as confirmed by the PN's FOIC himself in a media interview.

MaxDefense expects the 2nd AW159 Wildcat for the PN, with temporary UK military registration number ZZ550 to be out for testing soon.
