TIGHT SQUEEZE
HMS Eagle (R05) at HM Dockyard Devonport on October 21, 1970. The giant carrier is passing through the narrow entrance to No. 5 Basin.
Having just completed a routine yard maintenance period and workup, Eagle had run aground off Drake's Island while returning to Devonport. Here she's heading into drydock to replace a propeller and some hull plating.
HMS Centaur (R06) is laid up in the Tamar beyond.

She is also a Colossus/Majestic class carrier, like the Vikrant, Arromanches, 25 de Mayo, Bonaventure, Melbourne and many more !!!
But she was heavily modernised in Netherlands before delivery to Brazil.

The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Saratoga (CV-60) underway in the Adriatic Sea on 29 July 1992. Saratoga, with assigned Carrier Air Wing 17 (CVW-17), was deployed to the Mediterranean Sea from 6 May to 6 November 1992.

HUNTER KILLER
Essex class carrier USS Princeton (CVS-37) after conversion to an antisubmarine carrier. She did not receive the SCB 27A upgrade but she had her tripod mast replaced with a pole mast, as seen here, in Jan 1957 and in March 1959 was redesignated (LPH-5). This photo was taken in that period and you can see Point Loma (San Diego) in the background.
A Grumman S2F Tracker is on the flight deck with a Grumman Avenger next to the island.

10 January 2004, 20 years ago today: The decommissioned U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Midway (CV-41) prepares to moor at its final resting place at Navy Pier where it would later become the largest museum devoted to carriers and naval aviation. The ship was temporarily moored at Naval Air Station North Island during the past week so that preparations could be made to formally present the carrier to the city of San Diego. When commissioned on September 10, 1945 as USS Midway (CVB-41), she was the largest carrier ever put to sea.

The USS Yorktown was decommissioned for the first time on January 9, 1947, in Bremerton, Washington. For the next several years, she was modernized to operate jet aircraft as an attack carrier. In 1957, she was re-designated an anti-submarine aircraft carrier and earned five battle stars for her service off Vietnam before being decommissioned for the final time in 1970.
