Food & drink What are you drinking?

Something profound has happened to me. Y'all remember how I said that I was never that big on German beer? Well those days are frickin' over! Last weekend I visited an old friend of mine who now lives in Würzburg (Bavaria). We had a great time, went there as a group, beautiful city with lots of sights. On our last evening there we went to a small local pub, you know the kind with hand-written menus and such. Long story short, just out of curiosity I ordered the urfränkisches Landbier, and as god is my witness I've never had a drink that good!! It's a dark amber coloured form of liquid ambrosia. Apparently this type of beer is the typical brew in the Franconia Region. Now I just need to find a well stocked source.

You know what's funny, I almost would have never learned this stuff is that good. We were originally going to sit down in a local Irish pub because of me bitching that I'd only drink Guiness, but they were completely full, sheeesh....

Last Friday night, I had a Strawberry Manhattan, martini style. It was pretty darn good, but also US$11.50 at the fancy distillery, bar and grill! ?

Buffalo Trace bourbon
strawberry liqueur distilled onsite
dash o' bitters

I had the next drink on the rocks, but I don't remember what it was!
............
Edit: It was an Aperol Boulevardier. Of course, I like Aperol ;-)

I am currently on a sobriety self imposed challenge until late December and holidays season. No illness or impending surgery to speak of.

Just giving my liver a break and a rest. Two weeks of dry spell already and so far so good.

Okay one of the reason is to lose ten odd kilos too.

i have found my balance i think, i strictly dont drink a drop monday - thursday, on weekends i give myself one evening where i drink, rarely two days. Vacations? thats a different story...

not for any particular reason, just to keep the "occasion" special i guess

On the above mentioned gin front, this is the current selection in my stash. Half are unopened because I have a horrid habit of unnecessarily ordering stuff when I'm drunk, because someone or something put the idea in my head. Tagging in @Royal here because he told me about the Willow Tree one.. When I was drunk.
I have very little interest in flavoured gins, but the far left is a homemade one that my brother made for me and it is good.

Ah, the sobriety challenge panned out well, and I’ll allow myself a fine Scottish beer just to wind up @BCNTM, and give more money to Nicolas Sturgeon and make Scotland ??????? free again of the British.

I kid I kid, cheers mates!

I obviously didn’t buy it, it’s far more fun and risky to just snag one at the pub. :D

I failed to wind you up either way. Irish glass, Scottish beer and drunken French should have been more than enough.
