Hezbollah and Amal are blaming the Christian Lebanese Forces Party for firing on them.

At this point it is still unsure how the fighting in Beirut started, but it’s pretty clear that both Hezbollah and Amal are being complete fvcknuts.

Though still unfolding, here’s what happened (to the best of my knowledge) in Beirut.

Hezbollah and Amal were holding a protest march to call for the removal of the judge investigating the August 2020 Beirut port explosion.

They were shot at as they passed through the Teyouneh traffic circle, located in an area dividing Christian and Shi'ite Muslim neighborhoods (one of the front lines during the 1975-90 civil war).
Both of the groups believe that Christian militia snipers were targeting them from the Christian neighborhood, and proceeded to pour fire into the heavily populated area for the next hour.

Eventually Lebanese army forces moved into the middle of the circle and the dividing road in order to separate the two sides.

The Arab League is now calling call on the Lebanese to exercise restraint.
