Army Inf Training never allowed to group up like ducks in a row, one man could take out that whole line with one burst. In Vietnam one North Vietnamese machine gunner took out 35 men and they were spread out !!! That particular battle went hand to hand in the end and one North Vietnamese died on top of the leader of the American group. The machine gun nest was taken out by gunships of the 225th Avn Co with Rocket fire but after it was too late. The recon from the gunships warned the C&C that the area did not look good for an insertion but you know how that goes.
