Photos Sexton 1-76 scale

Hi guys following on from my FV432 13/5 scale build I took on a wee build of this Sexton 1 7/6 scale.
This was my grandad's kit in the Second World War in Italy with 12 Regt RHA ( HAC ) but they didn't have it to long.... Before this his Regt had the M7 PRIEST which he started the Italian Campaign... with the Yanks. Having finished the Tunisia campaign in Africa with the 25pdr gun this was seen as a vast improvement.
The build went well with no major issues but the fine framework does need to be done slowly as it's prone to damage.

Both models look great side by side........

Is it possible, that you meant 1/76?

I had to realise that 1/72 and 1/76 are now too small for me...

Nice build. Thanks for your granddad's service, and for his comparative assessment of the Sexton & the Priest. If I may ask, why did he think the British 88mm howitzer superior to the US 105mm?

Hi I think that it was Purley familiarity with the British
25 PDR GUN (towed) and the British ammunition which they used in TUNISIA.

The BDR in the picture is believed to be my grandad there is a very close resemblance but we will never know

Yeah that's what I meant if you get the diecast pre-made ones they do make a good display.

Thanks. Of course, a greater familiarity with the weapon counts. I'd asked because from I'd read about WW2, crews were fairly happy with the M7's gun. Got also a technical manual at home encompassing the use of the M7 in the French army.

Both the M7 and the Sexton were good guns and was probably looked apon as a great improvement over the 25Pdr towed..... as in more manoeuvrable and compact.
