Angola, 1996 "UNAVEM III" mission
26th Infantry Battalion Neagoe Basarab "Red Scorpions"

Fun fact, during a mission in Iraq or Afganistan, I dont remember exactly, one american officer which I assume could not pronounce "Neagoe Basarab" asked which is the nickname of the Battalion. They didnt have one at the time, but asking about previous missions the americans learned of the mission in Angola and that there were a lot of scorpions in the area. They decided that this would be the new nickname.

IAR-330 number 82 seen on a transport trailer. It was damaged in Mali, when heavy winds tipped it over while it was parked.

Some pictures when it was airlifted by a British Chinook can be seen here.
In August 2020 a IAR330 helicopter was tipped over by heavy winds in Douentza base. This week it was transported to Gao base with the help of a Royal Air Force CH-47. Because the mission is coming to an end it was decided that it will not be repaired in Gao, but shipped to Romania and repaired here at the IAR factory.
In total 4 helicopters are deployed in Mali
