WarriorDogFoundation was established by former NavySEAL Mike Ritland to transition working K9's from operational environment into retirement.

29 dec 2020 - We are so saddened to say goodbye to Air Force K9, Rocky. Rocky dedicated 8 years of service to the Air Force, deploying once and routinely going TDY for USSS missions and sweeps. Unfortunately, Rocky was unable to be adopted by any of the handlers at Aviano but had the support of the Aviano K9 Section who coordinated his retirement.
Rocky would've turned 13 in March and in April would've celebrated his 3rd anniversary at the ranch. Thank you for your service Rocky, you will be so very missed.

Army K9 and Handler Honored for Discovering IED Cache in Syria

Fritz, a military working dog, and his handler Sgt. Michael Ramirez received Army Commendation Medals in December for discovering a cache of unexploded bombs in Syria.

3 years ago today Mama Lucca got her angel wings. MWD SSD Lucca K458 served in the Marine Corp I MEF for 6 years with 2 deployments to Iraq and 1 to Afghanistan. She served on over 400 patrols discovering hidden weapons, IED's and the opposition while saving many lives. Her 2 handlers then were Gunnery Sergeant Chris Willingham and Corporal Juan Rodriguez. The book, Top Dog, written by Maria Goodavage, reflected on her life of service and retirement after being injured after an IED explosion. Lucca went on to be a spokesperson for MWD's and injured soldiers making many a trip to VA's to support them emotionally in their recovery. Lucca was awarded the PDSA Dickin Medal, honoring animals "for conspicuous gallantry or devotion to duty while serving or associated with any branch of the Armed Forces or Civil Defense Units" and is commonly referred to as "the animals' Victoria Cross" Both Chris and Juan spent the last week of Mama Lucca's life together bringing her to the beach and treating her to her favorite foods and were present when she took her last breath.

My childhood friend that I grew up and joined the services together with. Max was killed in Helmand Province, his pup survived the blast and was adopted by his family. Rest in Peace my friend.
