Pardon my post, I’ve never participated in a forum like this. I’m searching for examples of military uniforms for both Turkish and Greek during the 1974 invasion of Cyprus. I also hope to find examples of military uniforms (to include training uniforms) for Greek Cypriots in the mid-1980’s. Long story, but it’s for a criminal defense case. My client is a Greek Cypriot from the Famagusta district. He was about 6 years old when their village was invaded and he was separated from his family. I’m trying to piece together some accurate visuals for his trial. Thank you.

For the 1974 Cyprus invasion, the Turkish military wore NATO-style camouflage fatigues, M1 steel helmets, and carried rifles like the M1 Garand and FAL. They also had standard webbing with ammo pouches and rank insignia. The Greek military, on the other hand, used olive green or grayish-green uniforms with M1 helmets and similar rifles like the *FN FAL* and *M1 Garand*. Their uniforms also had rank insignia on the epaulets.

For Greek Cypriot soldiers in the mid-1980s, their uniforms were mostly olive green, similar to the Greek military, but with minimal camouflage. They typically carried FN FAL and M1 Garand rifles, and their training uniforms were simpler, just olive drab with little additional gear.
