Warfare Northwestern Aleppo offensive (2024)

It would be nice to see the russian bases in Syria go booom like this. But that will not happen (from israels side)...
Both of those bases are pretty barebone, not that big, not overly well-equipped with defensive systems at present and without sufficient bufferzones around them. That's all fine and dandy when the outer perimeter is taken up by the SAA and the surrounding countryside is controlled by the Syrian government, but not so much when the jihadist militias you've been fighting for close to a decade are right outside, including Chechens and other rabid dogs.

I expect regular mortar and rocket attacks from elements not playing ball with the new government, especially on the airbase.

The ultimate break up of Syria is a very real possibility. The Druze, the Kurds...

I don't believe it. CIA have looooong history with jihadis. I can even bet Julani is maybe CIA agent. (My opinion is maybe seems to a conspiracy theory but you know)

Columns of Russian army and Rosgvardia units continue to converge on the Khmeimim airbase and the Tartus base in Syria. It is too early to talk about the future of Russian military bases in Syria; negotiations are currently underway with the new Syrian leadership. Earlier, the Syrian opposition gave their own security guarantees not only to Russian military bases, but also to all Russian diplomatic institutions in Syria. The second part of the video shows the operation of an airfield near the city of Qamishli, in northeastern Syria, where units of the 154th regiment of the Russian group of troops are stationed. The base is still operating, but judging by the flags, the military equipment is being prepared for movement. There are currently two key Russian bases in Syria — in Tartus and Khmeimim. Tartus is the only Russian naval base in the Mediterranean.

The last time someone tried to trample US interests in Syria they ended up losing 2,5 motorized infantry companies and a large vehicle column respectively.

They are moving from their FOBS to their bases near Tartus and Latakia.

Incidentally, given the new "Syrian Reality" a lot of military hardware won't be needed anymore.
Russia was there to protect Bashar. Bashar is gone. The 2012 Civil War is over (who knows if another one will start).

HTS took Bashar's place, backed by Turkey; Israel reclaimed the Golan Heights; the US "isn't" in Syria anyway (sic); regional relations are "normalized" (somehow/for now).
