Don't know the latter, but I do remember spending lots of time on Aces of the Pacific too. As to SSI, "Great Naval Battles: North Atlantic 1939-1943" was one of my favourites (apart from something completely different: the EOB series ?).
Aces of the Pacific...holy hell I had totally forgotten that one until your post. You just unlocked some warm fuzzy memories of bygone youthful binge-gaming...
Edited to add, let me throw in Steel Panthers and Norm Koger's Operational Art of War for old school heavily played favs
@BravoZulu and the AGM-65 Maverick just reminded me of another game I used to love: Eurofighter Typhoon. A whole new world compared to Yeager's pixelated Air Combat.
I tried to install DCS (free download) on my PC laptop but after downloading (for several hours) and installation my PC froze or the game does not load, I was so excited to play it but what a disappointment, I uninstalled it...not sure what went wrong though, my PC specs is Intel I7 processor, 8GB RAM and ATI Radeon graphics card, bought around 4 years ago.
Sudden Strike 1, 2 and Resource wars I play every so often when I get a chance - got them now in my steam account
Cold War Conflicts I have on disc but it a struggle to get it to run
also play XCom and Xcom terror from the deep - still rank as fantastic evil games
I do have Sudden Strike 4 but not had chance to play it yet - and I have seen some of the new DLC - particularly the Finland add on. Roll on Autumn when I will get some time to see what its like
I'm currently playing Ghost Recon Wildlands again and also registered for the beta of part 2. I'm not that much a fan of third person shooters but this game is quite fun actually. It has a sh*tload of missions, weapons and equipment you can outfit your team with and all the other features like using multiple types of hand launched drones, calling for assistance from the rebels and so on really rock. The location and scenery it plays in (Bolivia) is really nice, too.
@AAR Galileo ahhh no need to apologize as the impulse buys were decent enough. Picked up Armored Brigade and Combat Mission Shock Front 2.
Armored Brigade is fun and enjoyable, right up my alley. Has the detail heavy focus I appreciate but have only played several several games so far. My only minor gripe was my CPU run speed with large unit rosters and no unit stacking.
