Hi, I'm interested in WW2 photos and was researching this particular photo of a fallen SS soldier. Does anyone know if the helmet is part of the original photo or was it photo shopped in ?

Welcome to MI.Net @FranzKline :)

Well about the photo, we wouldnt normally condone the posting of dead soldiers however you have a valid reaosn for doing so and as this picture is not as macabre as some I guess we will let that one pass.

I have seen this photo referred to as a Corpse of a fallen Kradschützen of the SS-Division Wiking elsewhere on the net. I cannot see any reason why it would be photoshopped and it looks orignal enough to me.

What are your concerns with this image?

Aside from the question posed by @bdpopeye it really grips me to see watermarks and copyright applied on images/documents that were originally in the public domain.

Now for the image; Everything I've found has the helmet in the image, it looks like at some time someone has highlighted the helmet on the original but I believe it's cosher :D

I agree with your point about the watermark mate. We used to insert a small watermark automatically on to photos uploaded in our media area, this was to show it was hosted with us and nothing more but I soon ceased to do that. This image has a watermark all over the photo and does not look very good at all.

It is likely (as you say) in the public domain and there is just no need for it
