I am a non practicing catholic my Mother was English Anglican my Father Irish Roman Catholic before they were allowed to wed in 1958 the catholic church bishop in Nottingham forced my Mother to sign a document saying all children would be raised as catholics, she naively ventured the question could not the children be raised in both religions and was told no sign, no wedding.
From 68 the family lived in Ireland there I got to see first hand how intolerant the catholic church could be, personally mistreated because (a) I was born in England, (b) could not give the correct answer on a Monday morning when asked about Sunday mass, when I went to the Christian Brothers school in the local town got the same treatment, so after a while quit school joined the army, they (the military) could force me on mass parade on sundays and holy days but could not make me physically enter the church. Had a priest stop me on the street and demand a salute told him his uniform was different to mine and I did not recognise it. (Irish civilians in 68 and later) would touch the forelock similar to the sign given to the landlords, when meeting a priest.
Then all the scandals started coming out of the wood work, sexual abuse, Mother & Baby homes, illegitimate kids sold off to rich Americans, abuse of young girls in the Religious sister homes where they were used as slave labour, so in all I decided christianity is a sham, all do as I say not as I do mentality.
Since living in Romania I observe a lot similar with the Romanian Orthodox Church, its all about the money, of course not all priests are bad I give respect to those whom I deem deserve not because he is a priest.
I have no tolerance of Islam either many are manipulated sheep fooled by their religious leaders who crave power.
