Eat your Heart out Greta!
Another scrub fire has erupted on Sunday evening in the North Canterbury region.
The fire was reported at 8.10pm along Waikari Valley Road in Hurunui district, about 76 kilometres north of Christchurch.
Fire and emergency NZ southern shift manager Alex Norris said they were in initial stage of containing the fire and the exact impact of it’s still unknown.
“We are still working to contain the fire.
Most of that area is farmland so more likely to be long grass for making hay, unless it crosses a few ridges and ends up in wine country. The in thing is to let the land grow wild or plant for carbon credits creating a landscape of fuel for fires.
I agree it is the third fire they have had in the area? At that rate it is a worse story than Australia due to the grass growth which is faster in NZ on lifestyle blocks not being used and becoming the perfect fuel by summertime. Will be interesting when they work out the cause. Most of that area is farmland so more likely to be long grass for making hay, unless it crosses a few ridges and ends up in wine country.
And volcanos, don't forget volcanos.I'm going with the informed opinion that it's our sun that has been controlling our planet's thermostat, and not humans that other humans want to make money off of and control with from an ulterior agenda.
Great point, thanks for the correction. And volcanos, don't forget volcanos.
