Hopefully, Maputo will request veterans of the Rhodesian Selous Scouts and SADF 32 Battalion, who can certainly train FADM in tactics and techniques in countering and destroying these ISIS/Boko Harem/Al Shabab elements that have been attacking this region of Mozambique.

A Nigerian Air Force Dassault-Dornier Alpha Jet has been shot down by armed bandits. The incident occured in the northern Nigerian state of Kaduna while the aircraft was supporting a mission against organised kidnappers operating in the region. The pilot successfully ejected from the aircraft and managed to avoid capture, eventually navigating his way back to government forces. (Source, Nigerian)

Intense gunfire from bandits caused a Nigerian fighter jet to crash in northwestern Zamfara state, but the pilot survived by ejecting from the aircraft.

Nigeria’s air force said on Monday the crash occurred on Sunday as the Alpha jet, a light attack aircraft, was returning to base from a mission on the Zamfara-Kaduna border.

The jet “came under intense enemy fire which led to its crash”, an air force statement said, but pilot Abayomi Dairo successfully ejected.

“Luckily, the gallant pilot … successfully ejected from the aircraft,” air force spokesman Edward Gabkwet said.

“Using his survival instincts, the pilot, who came under intense ground fire from the bandits, was able to evade them and sought refuge in nearby settlements awaiting sunset.”

The pilot found his way to an army base “where he was finally rescued”.

That's insane. I'm wondering whether a bunch of gun trucks could shoot down an Alpha or if they actually had manpads.

WOW! A turn of events, compared to some footage I saw in May when the Ethiopians were cutting through Tigray battle-lines.
