The Special Intervention Group (GIS), better known by the nickname "Ninjas", was an intervention unit of the Algerian special forces belonging to the Department of Intelligence and Security (DRS). He specialized in the fight against terrorism (in particular in counter-guerrilla actions as well as hunting terrorists in hostile and complex areas), release of hostages, close protection and all other types of special missions .
A unit characterized by its great discretion, as it was the strike force of the Algerian intelligence services, until its dissolution in 2016.
