Interesting since i have not seen AKM even in National Guard use for a long time, they they mostly have Bulgarian AK-74Ms.

Today a memorial to national hero, Su-25 pilot Zurab Iarajuli was revealed.

Zurab Iarajuli was a fighter pilot during the 1991-1993 Abkhazia War. On July 13 1993 just days before the war ended, when the village Shroma in Abkhazia was being shelled by advancing Seperatist forces he flew several precise sorties with his Su-25 bomber forcing a stop to the onslaught and thwarting the enemy offensive.
The same day after flying off the airbase fully armed for more sorties he was targeted and hit by a Soviet Igla manpad.
He managed to eject from the flaming aircraft and due to unfavorable wind parachuted into enemy territory. For three days, with the enemy closing in on him, he tried to reach frinedly lines. Despite his efforts he eventualy got surrounded by Abkhaz and Chechen fighters in the Gumista forest. The Chechens offered to spare him but Zurab refused to surrender to them. ( Chechens were known to torture and kill POWs, and no less brutal were the rebels ) A final firefight ensued during which Zurab was able to kill two of the attackers and injure another before he got finaly shot himself.

Forgot to add the main point for posting the latter. The Georgian MOD has further increased the funding of Delta by another $5 million to finalize the contract on mass producing what is now becoming GAF standart issue equipment. Delta is working on decreasing the prices so that the product will also be available on international market under more comfortable conditions for buyers.
The vest you see in the pictures is designated "All Purpose Vest MK-I" and provides LvL IIIA NIJ-Std 0101.06 protection without the plate. With plate it's lvl IV+
The "Army Tactical Helmet DH MK 1" provides LvL IIIA protection for example against 7,62X25 mm TT
These items are generaly designed to fit infantry but the smaller more compact vests and helmets for SF provide the same level of protection.
