Crews of the S-400 Triumf anti-aircraft missile systems of the Central Military District air defense unit repelled a massive missile attack from a mock enemy in Siberia. The combat crews of the units of the S-400 "Triumph" air defense system during the tactical exercise marched to a new positional area, where they completed a set of tasks to bring the systems into combat position. After that, they searched for and captured targets at a distance of up to 300 km, and also performed electronic missile launches to destroy them. Having hit the ballistic missiles of a mock enemy, the crews of the S-400 Triumph complexes performed an operational change of firing positions. In addition, during the exercise, combat crews worked out overcoming the contaminated area.

At the Kapustin Yar training ground, a military air defense group was created from units of five anti-aircraft missile formations and military units armed with advanced anti-aircraft missile systems and S-300V4, Buk-M3 and Tor-M2 complexes of the Western Military District. During the main phase of the exercise, the anti-aircraft missile battalions, having marched and taken up combat positions, worked out the tasks of timely opening and repelling air strikes of a mock enemy in conditions of high-intensity electronic interference. In total, during the exercise, anti-aircraft gunners of the Guards Red Banner Combined Arms Army of the Western Military District destroyed more than 40 single and group air targets. After the completion of large-scale exercises, the air defense troops of the combined arms army of the Western Military District began to redeploy to permanent bases in the Kursk, Voronezh, Belgorod, Bryansk and Smolensk regions. More than 1,000 servicemen and 100 units of weapons and military equipment of the troops of the Guards Red Banner Combined Arms Army of the Western Military District were involved in practical actions to ensure layered air defense.
