William Ernest BERINGER. Stoker 1st Class 309949 Royal Navy on HMS Goliath
Born 2 November 1886 to Frederick and Elizabeth Beringer, nee James of High Street, Portaferry, County Down.
Killed at sea on the attack and sinking of his ship 13 May 1915 aged 27 years.
Commemorated on a family memorial at Ballyphilip Catholic Churchyard, Portaferry, Northern Ireland, also on the Chatham Naval Memorial, Kent

Notes from his naval record. (Surname on record Berringer)
Joined 25 April 1906 for a period of twelve years. Civilian occupation, indoor servant. Posted the same day HMS Acheron as Stoker 2nd Class. Promoted to Stoker 1st Class 16 April 1908 whilst on HMS Bulwark. Joined HMS Goliath 9 December 1913.
