G138 CHARLES ERNEST HOTHAM. DSC Captain Royal Navy, Commander-in-Chief of Staff, on shore base HMS St.Angelo, Malta. Born 16 September 1891 at Christchurch, Hampshire to John (Major in the Royal Artillery) and Rose Florence Hotham, nee Ward Enlisted 15 January 1904, promoted to Acting Sub-Lieutenant 15 January 1911, Sub-Lieutenant 15 April 1915, Lieutenant Commander 15 April 1921, Commander 30 June 1926. Died at his home in Malta 31 January 1940 aged 48 years from a gunshot wound to his right temple. Suicide. Wills and Admin, Ancestry - His residence in England was Warren Lodge, Finchampstead, Berkshire. His effects went to his widowed mother.

At rest in Plot G grave 138 Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.
