Question? When did the US military change its dress code from caps to berets?

Let me try to decipher this question: "When did the US military change its dress code from caps to berets?"

I think the use of peaked caps or field caps never really went away to begin with. Especially the service uniform continued to use caps even though berets were common among special forces and other distinctive units. For the general use of berets, you may want to read this:

I'd be really pleased if they could learn to wear beret's properly....

UK is the kingdom of beret!
Irish Republic's Defence Force and Reserve Force has been sporting the beret since the late 1960's - early 1970's now mainly the army(infantry) wear it. Full time wear black, Reserve Force wear olive green, Ranger Wing (SF) dark green.
