What role does this plane cover, I see no hard points for ordinance and really that wing is so small I doubt it could carry much ordinance.

My old base is still there with the runway but all the buildings were destroyed decades ago. It is a military base but I believe it is like a population administration center. I see no aircraft parked but probably a plane such as this could certainly feel at home on such a short runway. Only C-130s and a couple other aircraft landed other than our helicopters. It was a spade base when first put into service early 60s. A Japanese Bomber runway in WWII and just a patch of left over hangar at the 121st.

Interesting fact is that Aero Vodochody offers L-39NG in several levels of capabilities but even in "western" and "eastern" standards. Vietnam had ordered "eastern" standard, so Vietnamese L-39NG can carry ruZZian or soviet weapons, even avionics systems and displays use ruZZian azbuka ("alphabeth") and ruZZian style indicators, even warning inscriptions on fusselage are in ruZZian language.

The 54s got a little maintenance in 1972 at An Loc during the North's large thrust towards Saigon. The New TOW that is now 50 years old cut it's combat teeth on these type Tanks.
