The wheel moves so slowly, it's criminal. The boys from Coral and Balmoral just got their Unit Citation for Gallantry last year, 50 years after the battles and 27 years after the award was introduced. Long Tan had a similar 50 year wait, a good 25 years after the award was introduced.
Rwanda was initially an Australian Service Medal, with no Infantry Combat Badge. It was finally upgraded to Australian Active Service Medal with ICB (for the Infantry component) about 10 years after the fact.
