Its a long time since I've used a sniper rifle in anger and I know that most of these are staged press shots but it seems to me that the standard of personal cam has slipped considerably as the main threat has gone from the Cold War peer-to-peer to the Counter Insurgeny of the past 20-odd years. I'd have been doubling for miles in my womble suit if I'd ever turned up for a rural stalk in the state most of these guys are in...

I have been thinking the very same thing myself for some time now...... They're probably staged shots I'm hoping cause it's bad !

We use the practice known as a "Ghillie Wash" to re-enforce design and practicality of students Ghillie's as well as a way of adjusting attitude and patients when required. Generally involves a body of water, mud, students in full Ghillie and the imagination of the instructor.

We had to sing this while we were PT'd up and down hills in full ghillie suits. kept the morale up even while we were being beasted as you couldn't help but laugh.

The Wombles was a kids TV show at the time, snipers were known as wombles because of the similarity between the costumes and a ghille suit.
