Hello there!

I wanted to search for some pictures of the Russian WW2 fighter Mig-3, but it looks like those are too short keywords and I don’t really know how to expand the search as that’s just the name of the plane.

Furthermore, if I add other keywords (example: MiG 3 Russian fighter WW2) the results are just too general as I get this message
  1. The following words were not included in your search because they are too short, too long, or too common: MiG, 3, WW2
It looks like those three keywords are stripped and I’m left just with Russian fighter… whatever other keywords I add, MiG 3 is always left out of the equation, defeating the purpose of my research.

How can I deal with this?

Thanks!

I'm not too sure we have any images of the MiG-3 mate, a search under Mikoyan doesn't bring up any but then it depends on if that tag was included on the image post. The only thing I can suggest is trawling through the media images under "Fixed wing aircraft" or the WW2 section there.

Sorry I can't help any further

Hi
Yes the search function here is limited however another option would be to search tags here
https://militaryimages.net/tags/

As @BravoZulu has touched on the tag search will only return results if proper tags have been supplied at the time a user posts.
I am looking at a much more advanced search function and should time and money allow I will look at implementing it.

A tag search for mig-3 only returns 5 results

That sounds frustrating. One trick you could try is using quotes around the exact term, like "MiG-3", to force the search engine to include it. You can also try adding more specific terms like "MiG-3 aircraft photos" or "MiG-3 WWII Soviet fighter images".

Another option is to use advanced search filters or switch to a different search engine that might handle short keywords better. Sometimes adding the designer’s name (Mikoyan-Gurevich) or specifying the era ("1940s Soviet fighter") can also help narrow it down.
