Thoughts go out to the servicemen currently getting shafted for the funeral...!

Was actually born in « Mon Repos » (My Rest in French) in Corfu, Greece.

Reposez en Paix, indeed Prince Philip.

Someone made an amusing post on FB suggesting that The Queen was a single now. We should call Her widow instead.

The man saw active duty in the Royal Navy after his country was overrun by the Nazis,

anybody whinging about performing their detailed duty in a time of peace on such a sad occasion

as this is not fit to wear the uniform in my opinion.

Gallows humour jeez. People will of course do it, but I'd bet any amount they whinge and joke about the practices and lost weekends/cancelled leave.

Some of you need to remember what it was like being in.

In the RAF, it was mainly the trainee apprentices that were sent for routelining etc, helped fill 3 years of their time.......

Yep. ACs at Cosford were always pegged as routeliners since the appo scheme folded.

Rest in Peace Sir.

He had a quite a life and so has Elizabeth II....Their life spans over so many different fascinating and sometimes tragic periods.

He has seem so many: changes in the world. And was at the front row of most.

Now I wonder if Harry and Meghan will be present to the funerals.

Britain's first geezer has gone to the happy hunting grounds, Lord rest his soul. Sincere condolences to the Queen, I can't imagine what it must feel like to lose a companion of 73 years.

Stand Easy Your Royal Highness and Rest in eternal Peace
