BEIJING - Ten Chinese police officers began joint patrols in four Italian cities Monday, according to a statement from the Chinese Ministry of Public Security.

Four groups of Chinese police officers will join their Italian counterparts for patrols in the cities of Rome, Milan, Florence and Naples from June 5 to 25.

The 20-day program also includes a Chinese-language police hotline where calls are answered by Chinese police officers, who will help Italian police with security issues concerning Chinese tourists, the statement said.

China sent four police officers to Rome and Milan to conduct joint patrols in May 2016. This year, Florence and Naples, both popular destinations for Chinese tourists, were added and six additional officers were sent.

This is the latest program aimed at protecting the interests of Chinese tourists overseas, and will help expand and deepen the Sino-Italian law enforcement cooperation, the statement added.

From April 24 to May 7, four Italian officers and their Chinese counterparts conducted joint patrols at tourist areas in Beijing and Shanghai, the first foreign police officers to carry out joint patrols in China.

According to government statistics, more than 800,000 Chinese and Italian tourists traveled between the two countries in 2016.

Chinese and Cambodian police have cracked a major online fraud case, and all the 74 suspects were brought back to China by a charted airplane Thursday afternoon. (Xinhua/Tan Chang)

BEIJING, July 6 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese and Cambodian police have cracked a major online fraud case, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) announced Thursday.

Since February, a series of online racketeering cases were reported from Hunan Province. Police soon discovered more than 800 victims of the "naked chatting" scheme via popular instant messaging service WeChat.

The victims are encouraged to undress and conduct video chat with a "beautiful woman." The victims are recorded and blackmailed accordingly.
Many victims had paid up to the extent of an estimated total of more than 12 million yuan (about 1.8 million U.S. dollars).

Under the command of the MPS and assisted by Cambodian authorities, police from the provinces of Hunan, Sichuan and Henan, raided 12 dens in Cambodia, capturing 74 suspects and seizing 1.7 million yuan on the spot, along with bank cards and computers.

The suspects were all brought back to China on Thursday afternoon.

A Chinese-American woman, surnamed Min, arrives at an airport in Shanghai, Sept. 19, 2017. The 59-year-old woman has been hiding in the United States for 16 years and obtained her American citizenship in that time. She is on Interpol's “red notice list” issued by China for those with an alleged involvement in corruption or economic crimes. China has launched a campaign dubbed "Operation Fox Hunt" aimed at nabbing such overseas suspects. Min is the first person this year to voluntarily surrender herself to Shanghai police in relation to Fox Hunt. (Photo: China News Service/Yin Liqin)

A fire and anti-terrorism drill is held in Shanghai's second tallest building in Pudong's Lujiazui area on November 2, 2017 to train workers' responses in an emergency. The drill at the Shanghai World Financial Center simulated an attempt of two terrorists trying to drive into the building, having started a high-story blaze in the 492-meter-tall skyscraper as a distraction. Some 2,000 employees from 79 firms took part in the drill, which was jointly conducted by the management of the center, along with the anti-terrorism office, police and fire brigade of the Pudong New Area.
