Another member of the Navajo Code Talkers has passed away. Roy Hawthorne died Sunday at the age of 92. In World War Two, code talkers played a valuable role to send messages and code to allied forces by using their native language. It was a code the Germans and Japanese couldn’t break. A funeral for Hawthorne will be Friday in Lupton, Arizona. His death means there are ten members of the Navajo Code Talkers who are still alive. The last of the original Navajo Code Talkers, Chester Nez, died in 2014.
