On this day 25 years ago we told how people in Inverclyde were being asked to help solve a heartbreaking World War Two mystery.
Bill Stoddart of Gourock and his wife Betty had spent several years trying to find the final resting place of Betty's brother, Private Alex 'Sandy' Walker, and others from the 2nd Battalion Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, who died during fighting against the Japanese in Malaysia in 1941-42.
Exactly 25 years ago, wartime pictures were given to Bill and it was hoped they would shed more light on what happened to the soldiers.
