This uniform its 19th-century. This battalion had its origins in the Emperor's Battalion (Emperor Pedro I, first monarch of Brazil Empire), organized in 1823, during the campaigns aganst Portugal that followed the Declaration of Independence of Brazil.
Presidential Guard Battalion is responsible for the military ceremonial and security of the president of Brazil.
