This memorial can be seen at St Mary the Virgin the parish church of Whitby and Ruswarp, Yorkshire beside the ruins of Whitby Abbey

fell in the Great War...
This memorial is a short distance from the parish church. The names of the fallen are not on the Roll of Honour in the church. The church only has three local men that fell in WW1 and they are not on this memorial for some reason or other
Sapper 24133580 Ronald HURST, 50th Field Squadron, Royal Engineers, shot on the 18th May 1972 age 25 while working on the perimeter fence which surrounds the joint Police and Army base in the town of Crossmaglen, Northern Ireland
