15 years ago, on May 24, 2007, by decision of the President of the Republic of Poland Lech Kaczyński a new type of Armed Forces-Special Forces was established. To commemorate this fact, by Decision of the Minister of National Defense, this day was established as the Day of the Special Forces.

Polish Leopard 2PL from the 10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade (10 Brygada Kawalerii Pancernej), 11th Armoured Cavalry Division, alongside a U.S. Army M1A2 SEP v2 Abrams from the 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armoured Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division while training in Poland, May 2022.

On May 31, on the second day of his visit to South Korea, Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak informed about the plan to acquire Hyundai Rotem K2 tanks along with their polonization (i.e. the use of devices and equipment of Polish production and possible production of tanks in Poland), which will give impetus to the Polish armaments industry. The head of the Polish Ministry of Defense also visited the aviation plants of Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI).
"In addition to the American Abrams tanks, it is very important that the Polish Army is equipped with modern tanks produced by Hyundai Rotem. Indeed, this is a very good offer, also in cooperation with the Polish industry. The needs of the Polish Army are very large, we want to replace the tanks in a short time post-Soviet modern tanks. Interoperability between Abrams and Korean K2 tanks is important, "said Mariusz Błaszczak, Minister of National Defense during the second day of his visit to South Korea.

The question is what level of production capacity is available or could be made available in a reasonable time to produce these vehicles?
I have never seen an estimate of the capacity to produce Borsuks and Krabs have not exactly been flying off the manufacturing lines. I guess there is talk of buying the hull for the Krab in Korea and only integrating the turret in Poland in order to expedite production.
Don't get me started on the glacial pace of the 2PL.

Without referring to aviation technology, the purpose of the visit is as follows:
- starting the implementation of a new tank ("WILK" program), I think with a lot of use of technologies and solutions from the Norwegian competition,
- quick purchase of heavy IFVs AS-21 Redback for armoured cavalry brigades (mechanized brigades would be equipped with floating IFV "Borsuk") to get rid of the BMP-1 as soon as possible,
- purchase of ready-made chassis for "KRAB" howitzers to speed up their production.
In this situation, the purchase of the K-21 would be pointless, but it is possible to start joint work on a new wheeled IFV (the question is whether it is needed - "Rosomak S.A." plants can produce the Polish version of Patria XP).
But first Patria have to agree

In November 2019, the company Rosomak S.A. acquired, under the agreement, the rights to produce a new version of the family of Rosomak vehicles (Patria AMV) - the Rosomak XP. In addition to production for the needs of the Polish Armed Forces, the contract allows for the possibility of cooperation on foreign markets and offering a new platform (and special versions based on it) to foreign markets.But first Patria have to agree
Rosomak XP is the Polish designation of the Patria XP transporter, disclosed by Finnish Patria in 2015. The vehicle has a gross vehicle weight increased to 32 tons (standard AMV / Rosomak is 26 tons), reinforced armor and a new 450 kW engine. It also has a changed design, it also uses e.g. enlarged tires. The Rosomak XP can therefore be the basis for a new variant of the wheeled IFV with improved parameters (especially when it comes to interior protection, also with the help of active protection systems).

Thanks for the insights.
The partnership with SK makes eminent sense. European arms producers are going to be backlogged now for quite awhile, and orders in the U.S. will not be far behind. I fear SK might be following soon because tensions are heating up over there as well.
India will be looking for new partners because Russia will no longer be able to send much equipment their way. Add in Covid issues and production worldwide will be stretched to say the least.
