Wren Officer Dead in Indian Hotel
Military police are inquiring into the death of Miss Margaret Cole, a 23 year old British W.R.N.S. officer whose body in advance stage of decomposition

was found in a locked room of a Karachi hotel. Miss Cole, who was due to leave for Britain on Thursday, had not been seen for six days. Police forced the door found a note saying “Going to Manora” and a letter. Manora is a small island off Karachi harbour.

Trains of the Piccadilly Underground were held up for fifteen minutes yesterday while workman extricated the body of Leading Wren Joan Emerson of Easton Dorset, killed when she fell in front of a train at Kings Cross.

EVELYN MONICA SANER. 2nd Officer WRNS on HMS Highflyer.
Born 1912 to Edward John and Mabel Lucy Monica Saner, of Beverley, Yorkshire.
She was incinerated, on the 29 March 1946 age 34 years as the result of an aircraft which was on fire prior to crashing in Delhi, India.

Evelyn Monica Saner of Westwood Lodge, Beverley, Yorkshire, spinster died 29 March 1946 at Delhi, India. Her effects went to William Henry Crookenden Cobb and Peter Donaldson Saner, solicitors’ articles clerks.

On the 29 March 1946 she was a passenger in a Consolidated B-24 Liberator Transport Aircraft VIII, EW630 of 232 Squadron with crew of three and a VAD Nurse, Evelyn Pansy Fleming when in flight developed a fire in the nose compartment that spread before an emergency landing could be made. Three died at the scene and Sergeant Logan died of his injuries later that day. All three are buried in Delhi War Cemetery as is a Flight Sergeant Logan who died later that day. She died from burns aged 23 along VAD Nurse Fleming and Sergeant 462954 Eileen Marjoria Eaton, WAAF and Flight Sergeant 1821780 Duncan Strachan Hail Logan RAFVR died later of his injuries. burns.
All those who died at the scene were burnt beyond recognition.

She married Kenneth R Ashby, June quarter 1945.

Her husband
Corporal 616420 Allan MacDonald, Royal Air Force. He was one of a group of 5 Air Force passenger and with a crew of two flying in an Avro Anson C. Mk XIX, TX175 which took off from RAF Gutersloh, West Germant 07 November 1946 bound for RAF Bovingdon, Hertfordshire when it collided with a 420 foot chimney whilst flying low in bad weather at De Wendel Colliery and dived into the ground. All perished at the scene. He was aged 25 years.

Born 1924, possibly to Charles and Grace Ethel Marshall, nee Merritt
1939, Doreen Margaret Marshall born 25 August 1924 residing with her parents at 296 Kenton Road, Harrow, Middlesex.
On the 04 July 1946 age 21 years She was murdered in her uniform by Nevill Heath in the Norfolk Hotel where she was staying while waiting to be demobbed from the WRNS.
She is at rest in Pinner Cemetery, Middlesex.

Neville George Clevely Heath, a former commissioned RAF aircraft pilot of Wimbledon was court martialled and had dishonourable discharge from the RAF, then he joined Royal Army Service Corps, with the same outcome. He was hanged on the 16 October 1946.

Fatal Motor Cycle Accident,23 September 1946.

On the 23 September 1946 she was a pillion on a motor cycle which was driven by Leading Radio Mechanic R. Jolly of HMS Dolphin which collided with a motor car at a junction in Portsmouth, according to a witness at 11.10 p.m. on Monday. Miss Rawson who was the pillion was thrown and three feet into the air and for a considerable distance and fell against the wall of a bank at a corner The rider tried to get up but could not. The traffic light at the junction had been extinguished in accordance with the usual practice. (Black-out)
K Turner of Portsmouth the driver of the cay said he slowed down to about 10 mph on reaching the junction dipped his headlights in front of him. The cycle collied with his radiator.
