William John HARPER. Able Seaman, Merchant Navy, on S.S. Marcella (London)
Born 27 January 1917 to John W and Jane Harper, nee Moderate of Moat Street, Donaghagee, County Down, Northern Ireland.
Lost at sea 13 March 1943 aged 25 on the sinking of his as the result on enemy action.
He did not die alone, also on this ship was Able Seaman John White, from Donaghadee.
Commemorated on a family memorial in Donaghadee Churchyard, County Down, Northern Ireland and also on the Tower Hill Memorial, London
