William Henry ROBINSON. Lance Corporal 11602, 2nd Grenadier Guards. Born 1882 to John Dowson and Maria Robinson. 1891 he was residing with parents and siblings at 2 Lodge Row, Ilkeston. 1901 with his parents and siblings at 3 Carr Street, Ilkeston, occupation, collier below ground, hooker of carriages. Husband of Ellen Elizabeth Robinson, nee Foulkes who he married 15 April 1911 at Holy Trinity Church, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. He was killed in action at Chavonnes, France, 5 October 1914 aged 32 years. His widow was granted a war gratuity 13 February 1915, revised 10 May 1919.
Commemorated on his parents’ memorial, in Park Cemetery, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. At rest in Bouilly Cross Roads Military Cemetery, Marne, France.
