George MEAKIN

George MEAKIN. Ordinary Seaman Bristol, Z/7662, Royal Naval (VR) at Crystal Palace Royal Navy Depot. Born 16 September 1899 to Samuel and Elizabeth Dickens. 1911 he was residing with his parents and siblings at Flamstead Road, Ilkeston, later of 51, Springfield Gardens, Ilkeston. Enlisted in the Royal Navy 27 May 1918 on HMS Victory II, civilian occupation, coalminer. Died of lobar pneumonia 3 July 1918 aged 18 years. His mother was informed of his death.
