Politics Climate Hysteria Debunked Yet Again ....

Nothing to see there. It just goes to show that global climate is a complex thing. The general warming trend does not heat the whole globe everywhere to the same extent, but it enforces regional extremes. So while the average global temperature is rising, some areas may even experience cooling effects.

They used to worry about global cooling 50 years ago , now it's global warming . Don't get me wrong , I understand that unfettered consumerism is unsustainable and will eventually trash our planet but it would help if scientists were a little more constructive with their point of view . Earth is effectively a living being , the temperature changes all the time . Better they spend their time trying to understand this phenomenon as apposed to scaremongering .

Everything is OK, carry on ..........

Chucking it down in blighty , thunderstorms predicted .

https://www.theguardian.com/theguardian/2008/mar/01/scienceofclimatechange.climatechange

Good article from one of the first scientists to predict global warming all the way back in the 60 s . His opinion , it's too late anyway and we d be better preparing for global warming as apposed to recycling / investing in renewables .

So wait. Every prediction of climatic and environmental doom and gloom for the past 40 years has been wrong. So, using the same computer model methodology we're told we have 12 years left before we all meet a catastrophic global climate change death? Wut? (BTW, the Minoan Warm Period was 4 degrees centigrade warmer than is now) Bernie said so last night at the Democrat debates. AOC said the same thing then recanted. But, before she said we would all die in 12 years we had to give up coal, oil, jet travel, cows and basically go back to an economic Stone Age. You guys actually trust your politicians with this BS?

is is complete and utter BS - I like how they now just dismiss old data sets that don't fit the agenda

Some *uck wit kids were 'protesting' outside where I was working the other day and the stupid 'teacher' with them asked me what I thought. So I told her - do you job and get these runts back in the classroom and teach them some real science and if they want to save the planet how about killing yourself. Possibly not the answer she was looking for:)

Good job there, BCNTM! Sometimes, you just have to respond forcefully and hope they get the point!

Cassandra syndrom
People dont believe doom and gloom until it is uo their noses. Like WWI, WWII, the various economical crisis or environmental crisis.
You can ask the mayas, the ancient khmers, the ancient egyptians, the ancient indus valley civilzation that vanished because of the domino effect of climate and environmental fck up leading to social disorders, mass migrztions, wars, pandemics, shortage of food and water and ultimately the fall of their supposedly ever lasting civilisation.
Or keep your head in the sand.

Smart meters , the big thing in the UK to reduce our carbon footprint . Cost billions so we can all have one . How do they work ? Right say you have your washer on you may get an Amber light as a washer draws a fair bit of current so the meter let's you know your using a fair bit of electric . Then you turn on your kettle and it goes red to let you know your using a lot of electric , and that's it . A complete and utter waste of time and money . That's the whole problem with trying to deal with climate change , decisions will be made behind closed doors by committee s of bearded men who come up with nonsense such as smart meters . Ironically they ve probably created more pollution making all these pointless meters ......

What can you do though mordoror ? They said diesel was the answer , then it turns out it wasn't . So what do they do on the back of their mistake ? Try and raise taxes on diesel and make it everyone else's problem . The only people who can make a difference ( politicians) are completely clueless on the matter and probably have a higher carbon footprint than the people they are legislating anyway .

got 3 phase in the house - one for the existing house - one for the extension that is as big as the existing house and one up to the nursery area - they have been a couple of times to try and fit smart meters and we are still not there yet. All 3 supplies use 5 point meters and the smart ones were only 4 point till recently. So we could be on again
Every time they contact me to come and fit them I say yes and clearly explain what they are going to be up against - they arrive - then say no we cannot - I ring the company and they give me £25-50 for messing me about
Smart meters work for me:)

Always quick to hand out free cash when someone else is paying . To be honest blackcat their completely useless your considering giving up hot drinks or not washing your clothes anymore as your going to use that electricity anyway .

to be honest our usage does not alter much winter - summer. Winter the biggest bit is underfloor heating - summer it is tools outside running all the time - got some welding to do tonight once it cools down

Nothing.
It seems too late. The inertia of GH gases is decades and there is no political will nor technological means to convert our fossil energy based civilisation.
What we can do is mitigate the forecoming disasters (plant more trees instead of turning our lands into mineral concrete jungles, use train transportation instead of hundred of trucks, make more efficient engines, paint houses white, stop monoculture water wasting crops , promote and develop public transportation.... but even for that it is too few too late.
To be honest i am not overly optimistic
We can expect social issues about migration, water, energy, clean air, overpopulation.
Worse that what we have seen in the past 10y
Those were only the premisses

The developing economies can't afford to stop. They should be being lambasted by world this and that organizations.. but not one nasty comment.
The "developed" world can't really afford a big overnight tax funded pill to swallow looking at interest rates continuing to go down to spurt any random kind of growth. They were generous enough already by donating their jobs to those lower labour cost economies.
Sentiment doesn't fill the grocery trolley.

It's our societies I'm afraid . We buy what we want , not what we need and then call it democratic freedom . Even when legislation is brought forward to help ; for example smaller and more efficient car engines ; we then proceed to put them in even larger cars because the free market dictates that's what people want thus negating any gains made . Not sustainable ........
