Video Restored WW2 War Machines

The Me 262 was faster and more heavily armed than any Allied fighter, including the British jet-powered Gloster Meteor. One of the most advanced aviation designs in operational use during World War II, the Me 262's roles included light bomber, reconnaissance and experimental night fighter versions.
Me 262 pilots claimed a total of 542 Allied aircraft shot down from mid-1944.

This is the story of the marathon 26 month restoration of the world's oldest flying Fairey Swordfish, W5856, filmed at the Brough factory by British Aerospace in the 90's.
Born at the end of the biplane era, this was an aircraft totally unsuited to fight the war in which it became embroiled. Despite being deemed obsolete at the onset of hostilities, it not only outlived aircraft designed to replace it, but it gave sterling service, virtually unchanged, in all theatres throughout the war.
This reliable and manoeuvrable aircraft, much loved by its crews, had it's major honours at Taranto and in the sinking of the Bismarck, but it also played a huge part in the Battle of the Atlantic and with the Arctic convoys as well as campaigns across the globe.
The Swordfish W5856 is based at the Navy Wings Charity Heritage Flight at RNAS Yeovilton and is funded by public donations.

Between 1936 and 1944, 14,231 Hawker Hurricanes were built of which about 20 remain. This is the story of the restoration of the oldest and rarest, the only surviving Sea Hurricane out of 700 converted during WWII. The film follows the painstaking 9 years, 9 months and 9 days restoration by a volunteer team at the Imperial War Museum to bring the plane back to flight.
The story reveals rare WWII archive and interviews with the pilots who flew the RAF’s most prolific fighter in the Battle of Britain.

Produced in association with the Imperial War Museum, this documentary series highlights the history and developments of two great WWII fighters, the Messerschmitt Bf109 and the Sea Hurricane. We meet the pilots who flew them and the restoration teams who bought them back to flight. The series includes rare WWII archive footage, air to air sequences and interviews with pilots, historians and conservationists.

Currently a FW-200 "Condor" is being restored by Airbus Bremen. I doubt it will fly, but they are integrating totally reworked Bramo 323 "Fafnirs" currently restored by Rolls-Royce in Oberursel.

PT (Patrol, Torpedo) boats were small, fast, and expendable vessels for short range oceanic scouting, armed with torpedoes and machine guns for cutting enemy supply lines and harassing enemy forces. Forty-three PT squadrons, each with 12 boats were formed during World War II by the U.S. Navy. PT boat duty was very dangerous and the squadrons suffered an extremely high loss rate in the war.

The PT-305 was stationed in Italy. It was restored by the National World War II Museum in New Orleans in 2017 and is available for 45 minute rides on Lake Pontchartrain.
