HI all, really pleased to have joined site and looking forward to going through the forums, Dad served with Jehu 50's as a crewman(?) on Whirlwind helicopters and took part in the Suez crisis operation, have a few stories from his time and will post these in the future if anyone would be interested,

I presume this is what bought you here, but just in case

it wes indeed sir,but also to hopefully learn other stuff also

A story my mum told me many years ago about dad during the Suez crisis was that when El Gamil airfield was taken a flag was required to fly over the airfield, dad found a motorcycle and rode down to the port and acquired one from one of the British ships,it was the long type of Union flag (Navy type i believe),when the withdrawal took place the said flag was given to dad.Mum was living in Middle Wallop and a neighbour showed her a newspaper which covered this story under the headline 'Dashing White Sergeant'
