etropolitan Police are investigating potential fraud offenses related to a years-long scandal where the Post Office wrongfully convicted its employees because of faulty software. The saga, commonly referred to as the “Post Office scandal,” is at the forefront of the public’s mind once again, following the TV series Mr Bates vs the Post Office airing on U.K. TV.
The show, and the attention surrounding it, has brought forward new potential victims. The Met Police had already been looking into potential offenses of perjury and perverting the course of justice related to prosecutions and investigations carried out by the Post Office. The force opened an investigation in January 2020 into matters concerning Fujitsu Horizon, the name of the company and its software, and the Post Office following a referral from the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Met Police tells TIME in an email.

What a laugh the prosecutors are looking into their prosecuting.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called the case an “appalling miscarriage of justice.”
Ahem ahem... The case s extend through several govts.

After the High Court ruling, the Post Office’s CEO Paula Vennells said in a statement that she was "truly sorry for the suffering caused.” She stepped down that year with a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire). As of Saturday, more than 700,000 people had signed an online petition to strip Vennells of her CBE—compared to 1,000 signers before the TV show aired, Sky News reported.

Since the scandal, the government extended its contract for Horizon with Fujitsu.

Two NSW police officers charged with assaulting NRL star Tom Starling

Unlucky for them after charging Starling with assault their own bodycams evidence boomerranged.

Starling was eventually cleared of all charges after CCTV was played to a court showing the brawl, which also involved Starling’s brothers, Jackson and Josh, as well as three police officers.

Starling was left bloodied after the brawl.

He was charged with multiple offences, but all were withdrawn or dismissed after the court was shown bodycam footage of the incident.

Scott appeared drunk and disoriented in the video. Magistrate Jennifer Giles labelled the arrest as “unlawful”.

A Friday night hostage situation in the German city of Ulm has shown itself a tragedy. Around 6:45 p.m., a man had burst into a Starbucks, taking six customers and staff hostage. Negotiations with the police led to him letting five people go, but also revealed his sole aim was to be shot dead by police. At around 8:20 p.m., the perpetrator suddenly left the cafe with his remaining hostage and tried to get away. Fearing for the hostage's life, a SWAT team had to resort to using firearms, striking the man four times. It has since emerged that the hostage taker—who was only in possession of a gun replica—is a German Army veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. It is believed that he was in Ulm to seek psychological help at the military hospital in that city but was turned away for reasons of formality. (Source)

As if the whole story wasn't terrible enough … guess where the perpetrator is being treated now.

Jesus Christ, I need a drink.

Another tragic and circular story that could have been avoided with a little compassion mate, when will they learn, mental health is the biggest problem across the globe.......there are people out there that need help, it's unfortunate and sad........but you help them anyway!!! :(:(:(

Political activist complains to police watchdog after being pepper sprayed at protest

Speaking to Stuff on Monday, the pair said they were not harming anybody during the protest. Minto said he was livestreaming the protest from the footpath and side of the road at the time. He alleges a police officer shoved him violently and when he “called him out” the officer shoved him again.

“And as I remonstrated with him he lifted his left hand and sprayed a stream of pepper spray directly into my eyes,” Minto alleges.

Incapacitated, Minto spent the next thirty minutes recovering before attempting to film from the footpath again. He alleges four officers “grabbed him”, told him he was under arrest and “violently dragged” him across to a police car.

“It was a deliberate targeting of myself,” he alleges. “If people are blocking the road in a civil disobedience protest they can expect to be arrested and charged but they should not be assaulted and pepper-sprayed. And if they are on the footpath as I was, they should be left alone.”

The watch dog is a a pathetic outfit. They even ignor court orders, ambusdmen orders and lie. NZ quietly turned into a police state that can't firstly control real crime.
Always have a camera handy if dealing with them.
One of their prosecutors was fined 30 k recently for bullshitting in court, they need that sort of accountabuility on a personal level like everyone else rather than the complaints department they apparently run and are not worried about.

Author Saige England alleges she was pepper sprayed because she was filming a policeman who was dealing with a protester on the ground.

“When I saw police pressing the chest of a man who said it hurt, that he couldn't breathe properly, the police pepper sprayed yours truly when she was taking footage as evidence,” England wrote on her Facebook page.

At a news conference on Wednesday, Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves said a total of 22 people were struck by gunfire - one of whom is dead - and three individuals were arrested.
A local radio station said one of its DJs, Lisa Lopez, was killed in the shooting.
Some punkass wannabe gangsters stir S**t up and innocent bystanders get killed.

If a member of the public did that they'd be spending the rest of their lives in jail.

Police?
"Could you please resign so we won't have to give you a slap on the wrist?"
