Even though I know better, I wish the people in Syria so much that peace and quiet will finally return there...

Hopefully the partitioning of Syria will lead to the fundamentalists and religious nutjobs to have little grounds to be either relevant, a threat or, worst case scenario, a relevant threat.
With Turkey being behind some of them, I would not expect things to end smoothly in a way that could allow us to simply leave the place be knowing, from now on, all will be fine.
Turkey does what is good for Turkey, and nobody else. Short term gains come before the long term ones, as they just maneuver their way depending on how things evolve.
Hopefully Syrians will make them understand they don't want war in their country anymore.

Citing Qatari diplomats, Bild states "Assad tried to negotiate with the armed opposition on the transfer of power".
The talks took place in Doha, but it failed and Assad is said to have been forced to resign. Well, he was either actively forced or he was told he didn't have any other choice anyway.

What’s good for Turkey? 3m Syrians going home would be good?
Not sure the Kurds getting a homeland would be seen as good.
Presumably eu and USA will promise money if new Syria behaves itself. And f35 for Turkey if both Syria and Turkey behave.
Deciding to focus on rebuilding would be a good decision in terms of collecting a pension, for the new leaders, given recent events for local leaders.
Also taking money from Iran is probably a really bad idea.

Erdo has been after more land for years, so he has got his wish come true.
Azerbaijan removed the pesky Armenians.
HTS removed the Kurds ans Syrians.
Rebel forces being Turkey compliant all over Syria gives Erdogan a good easy grab for the parts he would deem interesting. And if not a grab, a protectorate of sort.
Syrians going back home? Maybe the ones in Syria, though would they be willing to go back to a country where they have nothing left, and with islamists fundamentalists at the helm?
Some surely were running away from Assad, but some surely were running away from the religious crazies.
And while we are at "Syrian refugees going back to Syria", do you believe the ones in Europe will go back home now that the country has been "liberated"?
I just hope we stop dumping money we don't have, and desperately need at home, into building/rebuilding projects.

Soon, ethnic cleansing will begin, slave markets will open, and Christians will be blown up house by house, as they were in the caliphate. Nún is the first letter of Nazarin (نازارين), which means Nazarethite. Jesus was born in Nazareth, hence the word.
International journalism groups have been calling Hajat Tahrir As-Shams to foreign journalists. They would like to show how cute they are, that they are anointed priests of democracy and they are coming to bring freedom to the country. Funny, but in Turkey you have to apply in a small town near the border.
The whole jihadi gang will soon turn on the Kurds in Rozsava in northern Syria. They will fight to the last man and we will watch the genocide.

First, Israel and the United States are at war with Hezbollah in Lebanon and Iran. The Syrian regime has been beholden to both, all arms from Iran have come through Syria to both Hezbollah and the Palestinian resistance.
With the Sunni takeover, that is over.

Hezbollah has suffered huge losses in recent months (bombings in Lebanon), practically decapitated. With central control gone, it was well assessed that they could not send armed forces to defend Asad.
Iran cannot afford to send serious troops to the Assad regime either, because it is preparing for an all-out war against Israel. The theocracy leaders have assessed that they cannot save Assad because Assad has no army to support.
Russia, though it may lose its gateway to the Middle East and Africa, also cannot afford to withdraw forces from the Ukrainian front in the endgame.

Turkey is the biggest winner in the jihadist takeover. President Erdogan has his own proxy army in action. Another winner is Qatar, which has been the number one sponsor of the Islamic State and most political Islamist organisations during the Arab Spring. The emirate continues unabated in its policy of gaining influence in the Middle East.
Israel and the United States are also winning. Israel can end its colonisation of the West Bank and crush Palestinian resistance without threatening its northern borders with concrete armies. Sure, the jihadists will burn some US/Israeli flags, but they will never come close to the threat that Iran was in Lebanon and Syria.

Europe will kneel in tears before President Erdogan and swallow it. If we open our mouths and spout our usual human rights bullshit or try to threaten sanctions, we will wake up the next day to five million people at the border. There is no fence that can contain this crowd.
The Middle East will go up in flames again. As soon as it is clear that the 'revolution' in Syria has 'won', unrest and even armed resistance will run like wildfire through the region, as will revolutions. Ten years have passed since the Arab Spring. Resurgent car rallies have crushed Islamist opposition with fire and violence and terror, while the economic and social situation has deteriorated staggeringly everywhere. Tensions are enormous, it only takes one spark to set things off again. Revolutions always sweep across the continent in waves, not isolated incidents.
This could be the spark.
So please fasten your seatbelts, because I think the second act of the Arab Spring is about to begin. I sincerely hope I'm wrong. If not, the blood and mayhem that has characterised the first part of the last decade will turn into a baby-party

Take Syrians in Turkey, for example. A Syrian who arrived as a child in the 2010s has now mastered Turkish better than I do and built a family there. It’s clear that these individuals won’t return. However, Turkey isn’t Germany—here, 90% of Syrians live below the poverty line. Many of those struggling will likely return to Syria, where they might live the same life but under better circumstances in their own country speaking own language etc.
In Europe, on the other hand, almost no Syrians will return, as even unemployment benefits there surpass the salary of an engineer in the Middle East.
Turkey’s current focus is on dismantling the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) and baiting the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces). If Israel establishes a buffer zone beyond the Golan Heights, it could spark the first-ever global jihad. Even Iran might align itself with a Sunni Muslim Brotherhood-led government under such a scenario.
The real question is this: A government based on Erdoğan's political ideology and vision—essentially a Muslim Brotherhood framework—seems to be taking shape soon. Will this Muslim Brotherhood government spark a new Arab Spring, leading to a domino effect across the region?
At the same time, we Turks are left wondering about the outcome. Assad has been defeated, Iran and Russia have withdrawn from Syria, the communist Kurdish groups will leave our borders, and the war is nearing a stagnant phase. But what is the result? At least Assad was a secular leader. What about the new government and HTS? No one wants these jihadist groups near their borders.
