The United States Air Force deployed to Colombia, this Sunday, November 8, Two strategic B-52 Stratofortress bombers that have the capacity to launch nuclear weapons, in order to participate in a joint exercise with Kfir aircraft of the Colombian Air Force .

The two aircraft specialized in long-range strategic missions departed from the Barksdale air base located in Bossier City (Louisiana) and made a non-stop flight until they reached Colombian airspace where they trained at noon today with the IAI Kfir fighter-bombers. COA of Combat Squadron 111 of Air Combat Command No. 1.

Over the restricted airspace of the Palanquero Air Base (Puerto Salgar, Cundinamarca), five Kfir COA air superiority planes simulated a defense mission against an attack on a strategic target, effectively interoperating with the USAF bombers.

Regarding this exercise, the Air Force issued a statement stating that: "Once again the professionalism and trajectory of its Colombian Air Force allows it to be a regional preferred for the development of combined exercises. In a new training scenario, in which two B-52 aircraft participate. of the United States Air Force (USAF) and Kfir aircraft of the Colombian Air Force (FAC), the objective will be to strengthen interoperability and train as allied countries, under NATO standards ".

The institution added that "This operational exercise, planned between the United States Southern Command and the Colombian Air Force, which has been called‘ Brother’s Shield (Brotherhood Shield) ’will take place today in Colombian airspace."
