International cooperation is a part of the daily activities of the Finnish Air Force, and COVID-19 does not prevent training with partners in the air. On 6 May, the Finnish Air Force conducted air combat training with the French Air Force Mirage 2000-5F detachment deployed to Ämari Air Base, Estonia. Four Finnish F/A-18s and three French Mirages took part in the training mission, which was flown in Finnish airspace.

The Finnish Air Force has carried out similar air combat training missions with detachments participating in NATO’s Baltic Air Policing since 2015. The cooperation provides the Finnish F/A-18 pilots with a cost-efficient opportunity to train with international partners while flying from the Air Force’s main operating bases.
