Hydra II Multinational Strategic Exercise From July 25 to 30, the Colombian Military Forces and troops from the US Army Southern Command will carry out the Multinational Strategic Exercise Hidra II in the Tolemaida Military Fort. This is the second time that this knowledge exchange exercise has been carried out between the two countries that contributes to the strengthening of capacities to fight transnational threats and drug trafficking. Airmen and pilots assigned to the 474th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron and 79th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron respectively, dedicated themselves to techniques, tactics and procedures to strengthen the longstanding partnership between our countries during Exercise Relampago VI at CACOM 5 in Rionegro, Colombia, throughout the month of July. Relampago VI provides combined training and improves readiness of U.S. and partner nation military personnel through interoperability training. The United States is an enduring, reliable partner with a shared stake in the security and prosperity of the region, and this exercise will improve Colombian and U.S. forces’ capabilities to rapidly deploy and employ forces anywhere around the globe at any moment.

U.S. Air Force firefighters train with Colombian Air Force Bomberos Aeronauticos on fire and emergency protocols for the F-16 Fighting Falcon at Comando Aereo de Combate Number 5 (CACOM 5) in Rionegro Colombia, July 2, 2021 during Relampago VI. U.S. fire Airmen work as liaisons during the exercise and will work side-by-side with Colombian Air Force Bomberos Aeronauticos if any emergency situation occurs.
