The attacks took place in cities in the state of Rio Grande do Norte in northeastern Brazil. Narco-terrorists are burning public transport, attacking Military Police battalions, threatening civilians, several deaths are being reported, some of them are innocent people. The objective of the attacks is to improve prison conditions for members of the factions, such as intimate visits and televisions. The relatives of the narco-terrorists are in front of the prisons causing riots and attacking the police, being completely in favor of the attacks.

As a measure, the Government of Rio Grande do Norte asked for federal intervention through the National Force, to support the Military Police and Civil Police to maintain order in the cities. The Police also started a hunt to capture the masterminds of the attacks, one of the bosses died after a shootout with Civil Police Operators. The Governor of Rio Grande do Norte requested the transfer of leaders, which could lead to even more violent attacks.

The Federal Highway Police, Penal Police and Federal Police activated their special units and will soon arrive in the state.
