This award was issued for services during the campaigns from D-Day until the final German surrender in May 1945. The star could not be worn in conjunction with either the Atlantic or Air Crew Europe Stars, and recipients of any two of these awards wore the appropriate clasp on the ribbon.
Armor Piercing Round. The shells were almost 17 foot tall and weighed over 7 tons. It took almost 1 ton of powder to fire a round,
each round was numbered as the diameter of the shell increased with every round fired
